Lawler, Childs (vsj ’68) defy age, race across Alps

Should you need inspiration for your New Year’s resolution, consider the work of Brian Lawler and Michael Childs. The two Villa alumni participated in the 2007 Gore-Tex Transalpine Run from Oberstdorf Germany to Latsch, Italy via Austria and Switzerland.
That’s an eight-day alpine run in, through, and over the Alps for 160 miles, with a total of 42,000 feet elevation gain.
The competition was held this past September. (See here for details.)

A fuller account of Team Lawler’s odyssey, with pictures, can be found here.

The photos here were taken, without permission, from Lawler’s web site, which lists Childs and Lawler as ‘ageless’. Lawler, the 1960s model, can be recalled here.

And who among us would argue with that description? Get up off the damn couch!
